In 2023, FCEA hosted a series of 12 workshops in collaboration with with local organic farmer, Randy López, owner of Finca Orgánica Tinamastes. These workshops focused on organic agriculture techniques that are also highly beneficial and effective in forest landscape restoration projects. This year, we were able to continue working with Randy on a series of workshops focused on a burgeoning theme in agroforestry: the use of bamboo for sustainable family livelihoods. We collaborated with Cultura Kare, which aims to honour and preserve Ngäbere indigenous cultural and agricultural practices.
The video below provides just one snapshot of our diverse efforts: a workshop engaging local communities in learning about to use bamboo for sustainable family livelihoods 🎍; members of our team preparing for our recent bird banding pulse🪶; and work in our tree nursery as we gear up for a series of tree growing projects🌳. We are a small organization but we get a lot accomplished!
