🇨🇦🌱This week we officially finished the “photovoice” research process as part of our collaborative research with Birds Canada and the ConservaAves initiative, with the special visit of Felipe Del Castañeda (Birds Canada) and Noémie Ducos (Audubon Americas).📷💪

ConservaAves is an initiative led by American Bird Conservancy, Audubon Americas, BirdLife International, Birds Canada, and RedLAC, with support from the Government of Canada.🇨🇦 🌎

Photovoice is a participatory method that uses photography and storytelling to highlight the voices of those involved. 📷🗣️

We started with a virtual workshop, during which Felipe explained how photovoice works and why it is so powerful as a research tool. Next, two focus groups met in-person at Finca Cántaros on four occasions (two per group) to share photographs, stories, and reflections aimed at deepening the research topic: women’s experiences in conservation.👩‍🦰🌳 The women in the focus groups formulated their own questions about the subject.🗣️❓

We thank all the participants for sharing their experiences and perspectives so openly. With these testimonials, we can develop new plans and strategies to address the interconnected challenges of environmental degradation and the need to achieve gender equality.✨🤝One of the first project ideas was to have the Women Committed to the Earth group at Finca Cántaros paint a mural representing the outcomes of the photovoice process, which we will start working on tomorrow in our Saturday session! Stay tuned for photos and updates on this latest environmental art project.🎨🌿
