Thank you so much to Jacob Slusser for sharing his time and extensive knowledge with us in the Azuero Peninsula of Panama!

Jacob Slusser, MSc, is the Global Training Landscapes Manager of the Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America & the Caribbean (CATHALAC), on behalf of Yale University’s Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative (ELTI). As a leading expert on regenerative cattle ranching systems in Panama after two decades of experience with forest landscape restoration in the Neotropics, we were very appreciative to have this opportunity to learn more from Jacob Slusser about different sustainable land use practices that Finca Cántaros Environmental Association can potentially implement and showcase on the recently acquired land, including agroforestry and silvopastoral systems. I reached out to Jacob Slusser after his informative lectures in ELTI’s Tropical Forest Landscapes online certification program that I am currently pursuing (as part of the 2024-2025 cohort), and he was kindly open to showing us successful model farms and training sites. David and I are excited to start applying the knowledge gained today to the work of our organization!
